Wilson is just a hop, skip, & a jump away from Raleigh, NC and full of fun throughout the year. While the Whirligig Park brings a lot of visitors, there are many more fun things to do in Wilson and the neighboring towns that makes it a Bucket List-worthy place.

Like many small towns in Eastern North Carolina, Wilson’s recent story is characterized by “resurgence.” It’s home to a hardworking community that’s worked hard to transform downtown and the rest of Wilson County.

These are a few reasons why we invested in Wilson……

1. EVERYBODY KNOWS EVERYBODY.

Some may consider this a bad thing, however, there’s nothing more special than having neighbors look out for other neighbors children, Or where almost everyone in the entire town rally together to support a child with a crippling illness or to have the two biggest rival high schools in the county come together and support one another for a common cause.

2. IT MAY NOT HAVE EVERYTHING , BUT IT’S GOT EVERYTHING YOU NEED.

It’s close enough to major cities; Raleigh, the state capital, is only 45 minutes away, Rocky Mount is only 35 minutes away and Wilmington, a beach town, is only two hours. As someone who was raised in the city, I can honestly tell you that big city living is not all it’s cracked up to be. Yes, living there has its advantages. But there’s nothing like being back at home where you can run into familiar faces and complete strangers that would gladly give you the shirt off their back.

3. THE RESTAURANTS ARE IMPECCABLE.

Whether you’re looking for something upscale like Jac’s Grill, The Beefmastor Inn, or Pup’s Steakhouse or if you’re looking for a great down home Southern BBQ restaurant like Bill’s, Parker’s or a nearby Smithfields…. Wilson’s got it.

4. IT’S A GREAT PLACE TO RAISE A FAMILY.

There are more than enough activities for youth including: 4-H, various sports, Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, dance studios and so many more. There are incredible places to work like BB&T, the Bridgestone Firestone Wilson Plant, Wilson Medical Center, many small businesses and others. Not to mention the vast number of churches, because let’s face it, Wilson is in the Bible belt. However in my opinion, a church is what makes this small town feel like home.
